Fed Is Facing Same Issues Greenspan Did in 2001: Kelton

2 days 4 hours ago
Stephanie Kelton, Professor of Public Policy and Economics at Stony Brook University, said the U.S. economy is outperforming its G7 peers, with fiscal support contributing to growth even as the deficit runs at roughly 6.5% of GDP. She noted that about half of the roughly $2 trillion deficit reflects interest costs, and emphasized that higher interest payments become income for bondholders rather than disappearing. She speaks with Romaine Bostick on "The Close" on October 28th, 2026. (Source: Bloomberg)

Chemical recycling turns silicone waste into reusable building blocks with up to 99% yield

2 days 4 hours ago
Silicones are widely used in industry, medicine and everyday products due to their exceptional thermal and chemical stability. However, it is precisely these properties that have made recycling silicones extremely problematic in the past. Researchers at the Institute of Chemistry at TU Berlin have now succeeded in breaking down the polymer chains of silicone molecules into their basic building blocks. The resulting molecule dimethyldichlorosilane can then be reused as a starting material for the production of new silicone compounds.
